Psychological and Neurocognitive Testing
We currently offer two types of psychological assessment at our office:
Brief Neurocognitive Testing, and ADHD assessments.
Brief Neurocognitive Testing
Brief neurocognitive testing is for neurofeedback clients. We do this with our own child and adult clients, and Dr. Neff also works with other neurofeedback clinics to offer this testing to their clients remotely. This type of testing involves gathering data in order to identify and quantify areas of struggle prior to neurofeedback training. The post-testing can reveal how effective neurofeedback interventions were, and in which specific ways they helped.
Testing occurs before neurofeedback starts, and is again completed at the end of treatment, or at certain timepoints in treatment, to gauge progress towards specific goals. With brief neurocognitive testing, we assess the following areas:
Attention
Memory
Executive functioning
Cognitive flexibility
Processing speed
Screening for depression, anxiety, sleep quality, and other concerns
ADHD testing involves completing ADHD-specific assessments with children ages 6 and up, and with adults. We will assess a client’s visual and auditory attention, working memory, and executive functioning skills with the use of targeted psychological tests.
In addition, we do a QEEG brain map to identify and validate or rule out ADHD, to gather more information about specific difficulties impairing the brain, and to identify any other related concerns that are seen. We use statistical analyses to determine if clients have specific ADHD markers and EEG-related ADHD signatures/subtypes.
